Liquid Crystal Filtration

Expel Gelatinous Material and Particles from LC Material and Increase Yields

The LCF Kleen-Change®-LCBN capsule filter is specifically designed to remove gelatinous material and particles from liquid crystal (LC) material, in the manufacture of thin film transistor displays. Its exclusive structure and low pressure drop allows for easy venting, thus virtually eliminating the presence of air bubbles that cause defects during the liquid crystal ODF process. Disposable filter capsules are designed with hydraulic buffering capacity to minimize defects caused by bubbles during the ODF process.

The filter is composed of an all fluoropolymer construction that provides for excellent chemical compatibility with low extractables. Common problems and defects arise from traditional filtering such as the filter's potential for outgassing air bubbles and for particle shedding that can reach the LC’s surface. Defects from gas excursions are minimized by filters designed with low outgassing and broad chemical compatibility. Gelatinous particles are expelled from the process stream and the materials used are highly transparent to molecular contamination.

Benefits:

  • Low Cost of Ownership (CoO) and disposable solutions
  • Durable Fluoropolymer construction
  • Reduction in outgassing and air bubble removal in ODF streams
  • Increased LC yield and less surface defects
