Depth Filtration Technologies

Depth filtration is the ideal solution

Why Use Depth Filtration Technologies?

Due to process conditions and raw materials, all manufacturing processes in the Food & Beverage industry related to the production of clear and stable products have unexpected variances in their turbidity and colloidal load. Those variances can have a massive negative impact on the performance of installed filters, especially membrane filters that are installed prior to bottling.

Microbial spoilage contamination is another prevalent concern for most food and beverage manufacturers. The potential impact it can cause may lead to product recalls and compromise consumer safety.

Depth filtration is the ideal solution for such conditions in these applications.

Where can I use Depth Filtration Technologies?

Depth filtration represents a wide range of different filter sheet media which can be used for:

  • Turbidity removal, from coarse to fine particles

  • Polishing filtration

  • Colloidal removal

  • Chill haze removal

  • Removal of microbial spoilage/ Reduction of microorganism (yeast, bacteria, mold)

Seitz® Sheets

Seitz Filter sheets have a long-lasting tradition of more than 130 years on the market of depth filtration and play a key role within the Pall Depth Filter portfolio.

Depth filter sheets are made of cellulose fibers, kieselguhr and perlite. They use surface filtration, depth filtration and adsorbtion as main filtration mechanisms.

SUPRAdisc™ II

The SUPRAdisc II modules are a design optimization of the traditional "Single Cell" modules which were launched on the market in the 1980s.

With the newly developed "Inside-Outside Separator“ concept Pall has created a block module design which eliminated most of the serious disadvantages in the design of the "Single Cell" modules.

SUPRAdisc II HP

The SUPRAdisc II HP modules provide  two step filtration in one module. The modules use a coarse and a fine sheet in combination which allows to do coarse and fine filtration in one housing.

SUPRAdisc II Modules eliminate constructional weaknesses of classical Lenticulars in single cell design using inside-outside separator technology in a filter block design.

SUPRAdisc 1 HP

The SUPRAdisc 1 filter modules are Pall´s generation one modules, based on the classical single cell design developed in the 1980s.

The SUPRAdisc 1 module design is used to produce 12” SUPRAdisc 1 HP double layer lenticulars equipped with classical DE sheets and ion reduced DE sheets.

SUPRApak

SUPRApak modules are Pall’s newest innovation in depth filtration with an entirely unique design and flow configuration. SUPRApak modules consist of filter sheet material wrapped around a central permeable core with external straps that attach the sheet material to the core.

The sheet material is punched with an intricate pattern of feed and filtrate channels which direct fluid flow through the module. The unfiltered fluid enters the module from the outside through feed channels.

SUPRApak Plus

SUPRApak Plus is the second generation of our SUPRApak filter series that uses advanced sealing technology to seal unfiltrate to filtrate channels.

Meet the entire range of removal requirements in the food and beverage industry available in multiple grades suitable for applications requiring fine, clarifying and coarse filtration.

SUPRAdisc 1 AKS 4

The SUPRAdisc 1 filter modules are single filter cells incorporating 2 sheets and a drainage core, sealed by injection molding on the outer diameter are then stacked and combined with a flat gasket or bajonett double-O-ring adapter.

The SUPRAdisc 1 module design is used to produce our Activated Carbon Sheet AKS 4 media in 12” and 16” size

SUPRA Housings

SUPRApak housings provide a closed system approach to depth filtration, maximizing product and operator protection while minimizing product losses.

Products typically filtered with SUPRAPak include wine, beer, distilled spirits, sweeteners, gelatin, enzymes, ingredients, flavors and aromas, etc.
